CO₂ per TEU is down 18% since 2020.
Throughput is up 9% over the same period, so the absolute reduction is larger than the per-TEU number suggests. The biggest single contributor has been cold-ironing on every container berth at Harbor Point and Coastal Reach.

What changed
Three levers, in order of impact.
- 01
The biggest single contributor has been cold-ironing on every container berth at Harbor Point and Coastal Reach, which removes the auxiliary diesel load from alongside calls.
- 02
Equipment electrification is the next lever. The yard crane fleet at Harbor Point and Coastal Reach is now fully electric; the gate tractors and internal transport vehicles are 46% electric and 8% hybrid.
- 03
Throughput is up 9% over the same period, so the absolute CO₂ reduction is larger than the per-TEU number suggests.
